MALVERN,
PENNSYLVANIA -
March 21, 2005 - Vishay
Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announces the availability of Vishay
Nobel GLT web tension load cells. The high-reliability load cells
measure low resultant tension forces with small wrap angles. Designed
for use in applications such as winders, unwinders, rewinders, coaters,
laminators, and printing presses, they eliminate drift and frequent
recalibration problems often encountered with conventional half-bridge
semiconductor-type load cells.
Full Wheatstone-bridge,
temperature-compensated strain gage
construction enables precise accuracy with genuine “non-drift” signal
stability. GLT load cells are of a rugged compact size with high
overload capacity. Outline dimensions are identical to existing
equipment, thereby making possible simple, drop-in replacement.
GLT load cells are ideally
suited for a wide range of operating
tensions and for applications with high roll weight/low tension ratios
and/or wide range requirements. Factory calibration with matching
output signals significantly simplifies installation, while ensuring
long-term calibration reliability. It eliminates field calibration
along with the need for on-site test weights and costly recalibration
after initial set-up.
Each load cell can be rotated
to measure the resultant tension force,
not just a component of the force. The full bridge electrical output of
each load cell is calibrated within a tolerance of better than 0.25%.
When coupled with Vishay Nobel instrumentation, system calibration can
be accomplished without using dead weights or other sources of known
force.
Zero and span settings
remain stable for tension forces operating
at the low end of wide range applications. Scribe marks allow for quick
alignment of the GLT load cells with the resultant tension force. Shaft
misalignment of up to three degrees is accommodated. Both frame and
optional pillow block mounting configurations are available for dead
shaft roller assemblies.
The all-stainless steel GLT
web tension load cells are available in
20-lb, 50-lb, 100-lb, 200-lb, and 500-lb ratings, and operate over a
temperature range of -40 degrees C to +105 degrees C. Rated output is
2.0 mV/V +/-0.25%, while non-linearity and repeatability are 0.25% and
0.02% RO respectively.
